Volunteer Waivers

READ CAREFULLY AS THIS CONTRACT IS BINDING. MAARC is committed to providing a safe, fun place for our adoptables to have interactions with the public for the purpose of adoptions and socialization. We appreciate your willingness to participate and volunteer your time to help our animals. We take safety precautions to avoid situations which risk injury to our volunteers, the public and our animals, but any work with live animals carries some risks of injury, illness and/or death. Therefore, we require all volunteers to read and sign the following liability waiver and agreement:
Volunteer Waivers*
- I agree to remain in compliance with all MAARC guidelines/protocol and cooperate fully with the representatives on site or at each event including the Maryville City Shelter Staff and animal control officers.. I also agree to remain in compliance with any and all guidelines and requests from the representatives of any and all business and property owners/managers for any and all of the venues at which I attend events with MAARC.
- I understand that the volunteers of MAARC rely on any information available and provided by previous owners, shelters, rescues and on their own knowledge gained by working with each individual animal. I understand that sometimes no or minimal information is available on an animal, and that MAARC makes every effort to maintain the safest possible environment for their adoptable animals, the public and their volunteers. Therefore, I accept full responsibility and financial liability for any harm or damage whatsoever caused by any animal that occurs while in any facility, business or in any public or private setting where MAARC or any of its representatives are, with animals.
- We take pride in our safety precautions and procedures. I understand that there are inherent risks of injury, illness or death in an environment with live animals. MAARC exercises due diligence and reasonable care to provide a clean, sanitary and safe environment onsite and at our events. I agree that any problems arising with the animals or any injury will be treated as deemed best by MAARC without liability on the part of MAARC from any resulting injury, illness or death. I further agree to pay any of my own resulting emergency fees or other fees incurred as a result of any such incident, understanding that MAARC is not financially or legally responsible for any resulting injury, illness or death. I agree not to hold responsible, financially or otherwise, any MAARC staff member, any shelter employee or animal control officer, representative or volunteer for any resulting injury, illness or death to myself or any animals in my care at any events.
- My services to MAARC are provided strictly in a voluntary capacity as a Volunteer, and without any express or implied promise of salary, compensation, or other payment of any kind whatsoever. My services are furnished without any employment-type benefits, including employment insurance programs,worker’s compensation accrual in any form, vacations or sick time.
- I will familiarize myself with and abide by MAARC’s policies, procedures and Volunteer Code of Ethics. I understand that MAARC expects high standards of moral and ethical treatment of animals under its care. In my capacity as a Volunteer, I agree to strictly adhere to all of these standards.
Conditions or Limitations
Listed below are any special conditions that I want MAARC to be aware of, including special needs or medical conditions of mine or of any animals in my care or custody, including, but not limited to, illnesses, medications, allergies and any other things that may affect my ability to safely attend events and care for animals at said events:
I have read this contract, and agree to remain in full compliance with all assertions stated above. I agree to remain in compliance with all policies and decisions of the shelter staff, representatives and/or volunteers of MAARC.
