Lil Mama is figuring out how to spend her free time as she waits for an adopter. Super friendly and fine with other cats, Lil Mama is around 3. She's spayed and UTD on shots, but she is FIV+.

FIV+ cats can certainly integrate in a home with non FIV+ cats. The studies have proven it, and as a progressive rescue, we're happy to perpetuate that.

We don’t understand why Barnaby Jones has been overlooked. He is roughly 5 years old, still young but he’s out of the wild puppy stage. He likes to play but won’t wear you out, and is totally up for just chilling on the couch too. He is a super sweet, ruggedly handsome boy that is very people and dog friendly. If you’d like to meet him at 426 Home Avenue, hours are 1pm-6pm Mon-Fri and 10am-1pm Saturday. Or set up a personal meet and greet by texting Tiffany at 865-919-3563.

Regardless of decisions that are made in any situation, the Maryville Alcoa Animal Rescue Center has a mission to save the animals, while the animal control officers have a mission to uphold the law. We are in their municipally funded building and this is a partnership with a bigger vision. Our goal is to sustain no kill in a shelter who was no kill long before we ever came along. Inevitably, there are times that emotions run high, compassion is intense, and time is of the essence, but lest we forget that our rescue wouldn't exist without the ACOs have we done ourselves and the animals in our care a disservice. We don't have to agree on everything, but signing up for this partnership already means we agree on the value of animal lives. Let's keep that at the forefront of our minds as we move forward, and not let one situation prevent us from saving the many in solidarity. In the Shil-li-li-li-loh.....you're far from the Shiloh now....🎶) Shiloh is a little on the shy side. She is a cat, so I could be mistaking her shyness for indifference and feed me or get out of my face. Truly, though, a cat sometimes can't break the shyness in a shelter. There's just too much stimuli for them to get past. She is also FIV+. It's certainly not a death sentence, but a shelter can affect her immune system more so than if she were in a home. So, how about we share Shiloh with hope that a quiet home is recruited to break down Shiloh's walls of protection? Puppy Harper on the left was an intake through the Maryville City Shelter that we immediately rushed to Midland Pet Emergency, (when they were still open), with suspicions of parvo invading the tiny little Harper. (Thank you Emmaleigh Travis!) After Midland's lifesaving triage, we were able to transfer Harper to Big Springs Animal Hospital, (Thank you Autum Graham Childres), for continued and extremely attentive care. It was touch and go for many days, and we spent those days worrying that Harper wouldn't make it; but, it wasn't just the MAARC team....the public developed a love and concern for little Harper. They followed her story. They asked about her through all platforms. They donated to her care. Cut to today, and you see big, striking Harper!! Grown and healthy thanks to the team of people behind the scenes, the compassionate public, and her current, sensational adopters. As #givingtuesday arrives, keep Harper's story in mind.
